The era of nation-building is over. As more and more people recognize this the important next step is knowing what comes next. Logically it seems that after city-state comes the nation, and next comes the world or a global order.
What is obsolete about the era of nation-building is not the cultural distinctions of each nation. What is obsolete is the State. That is the barrier to the advancement of civilization.
Sure the next stage is global but it does not require, and in fact it would be burdened by, any aspect of statism. The next stage is a world civilization composed of many and diverse classical liberalism societies. This civilization is one that will operate free from ego-driven economic interventionism which means that it will be a prosperous and peaceful civilization.
The exchange of expertise freely flowing to all parts of the world - like the example given mentioning the helpfulness of the physicians from Iran who visited Mississippi - is a glimpse of how the world will look in the future.
